Apparently God is Working

The past few months I have been trying hard to get into shape again. This past winter I gained a few pounds because I wasn't running and I was eating bad too. So I have been on this drive to get healthy by running, eating more of the right foods and less of the bad foods.

Last night I went for a run. Normally when I run I have a conversation with myself. Weird I know, but it usually goes something like this...."Lyn you can run 3 miles, you do it all the time, this is an easy run for you" "I know, but tonight my legs hurt, and I am tired. I will just run to the next block and then I can walk the rest of the way home" I do that until the "next block IS home" and I completed 3 miles. But Last night was different. There was a different voice talking to me....

"Lyn, you are working so hard at getting healthy on the outside, why are you not working as hard on the inside?" This is a conversation the Lord and I have been having on a pretty regular basis these last few weeks. I struggle to find the balance between Wife, Mother, and Daughter of the King. God has been showing me area's that I need to work on. Parts of me that have been there for as long as I can remember. It's kind of like trying to take away a leg. How do you function without it? God is trying to change my way of life, thinking, my reality. This is a lot harder than running a measly 3 miles!

One of those area's God has shown me is fear. I seriously can't remember a time that I haven't been scared of something. As a child, I was a very fearful child. I was scared of our house being on fire, of someone breaking in. Most of all I was scared of wind. Funny how God brings things to mind when he is talking with you. Bear with me, because I think he is working on me even as I write this..... I have always used wind as a way to explain God. You can't see the wind but you know it's there (those are lyrics to a song), so if wind = God, then am I fearful of God? Wow, what a revelation... I will have to ponder that a while.

So back to being fearful. Even in my adult life I am scared of many things, on a daily basis (don't need to go into them all), but I know that is not of God. God is not fear, that is Satan's tool. So if I have so much fear in my life, then Satan has a lot of control over my life. This is what God has been talking to me about. Now, I KNOW that this is not good. But like I said before, I have lived with it for so long, I don't quite know how to get rid of it. I also KNOW all the scripture about worry and fear, but that is head knowledge, how do you get it down to your heart? I honestly don't have the answer yet, but I am sure that God will be speaking to me about it very soon. Because as I am working hard on getting the outside of me healthy, He is working hard on getting the inside of me healthy.

I know that I have written on it before, but about 5 years ago God gave me a vision of a butterfly. He told me that the butterfly represented me. That he was going to make me into a beautiful butterfly. While on the INSIDE of the cocoon, He was going to transform me until I was beautiful on the OUTSIDE. He is still working...hard I must say. This new revelation of fear is a tough one for me to work on. It scares me to even think about it. But God says...

Is 41:10 don't be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. I will help you. I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.

I am praying that one day soon, I will be able to go to bed without fear, and rise in the morning without fear because the Lord MY God is with me.

He is making me beautiful from the inside out one painful step...block...mile at a time!

UNDER CONSTRUCTION

Not only was my trailer under construction...my house is under construction but now my Blog is under construction too :-0

Kevin has said that I needed to change the pictures for a long time now...so I am on a mission to do that. Please bare with me as I make these changes over the next few days.

Micah Bowling

Micah and Ama (Kevin's Mom) were on a bowling league together. They had a great time every week. The last day of the league Kev and I went with to watch him.

We were not disappointed. Here is a sequence of pictures of just one of his many strikes that day.

We are so proud of him, he could have been dead last and we would still see him as the greatest bowler.....but he didn't come in last, he and Ama came in FIRST!And he has a trophy to prove it. I don't know how he will top his standing for the next session. Tyler and Jilli want to bowl now too. I think it is a great experience for them. I remember bowling every other week with my family growing up, those are very happy memories for me. We will see how next sessions goes and if I have THREE of the greatest bowlers!

I Am Back!

WooHoo, I am back home, back to the bloggy world, back to emails, facebook, unpacking, laundry, cleaning the trailer, cleaning the house.....
I think after all of that I will leave for camping again *smile*. A world that seems to slow down for me, so that I can concentrate on the important things of life...Like my family. Love..LOve..LOVE being away from all the responsibilities that are here at home.
Hopefully this week I will be able to catch you up on all the fun we have been having the last few weeks. Including our trip to Chicago...which was a blast. No Fancy, Shmancy (made up my own word...spell check is givin me fits about it..haha), pictures tonight, just some random pics I took.

Young at Heart

I just had to share this picture...

There is a tree by the playground that the boys had discovered this year and now they love to climb it. Kevin, not to be out done by his little boys even tried his hand at it....If you look closely he is stinking his tongue out at me :-) But honestly, I love this picture, not because Kev is in a tree (that does crack me up a bit) but because even as we age, we can still have fun like when we were kids. I think age has a way of stripping the basic fun of life away and if we are not careful, we lose the joy we had as a child.

What is Going On??

Yesterday Kev found out that a younger brother, of a kid he graduated with, was killed in a motorcycle accident. Today I went to a funeral of a friend who's mother died of Brain Cancer (at a young age of 58). I get home from the funeral to find out that my Grampa fell down the steps BACKWARDS all the way to the cement basement floor (thankfully he only has a bad scrape and bruises, my Grandma is more upset than he is). Then I get another call from my Mom to tell me that Paul and Nadia's (my brother and sister-in-law) brother-in-law suffered head trauma yesterday and has not regained consciousness. He has bleeding on the brain that has not stopped. His wife and children are believers...he is not.

Please pray for all of these situations....God is STILL God!

Romeo and Jilli

Jilli loves to play with Romeo.....This time she took the golf balls that are attached to ropes (part of a camping game) and hung them on Romeo's neck.

He is such a good dog that he lets her do what ever she wants.Romeo even posed for me so that I could take a quick picture of him...notice the tired Daddy in the background yawning :-)Blessings!!

Who Would Have Thought

I am camping and someone pulled in with internet. Don't know how long this will last, but I am going to try and quick give you an update....

So who would have thought that I would be FREEZING in July?? Today was the first day the kids and I could go with out jeans and a jacket. The nights have been so cold I have thought about turning the furnace on to keep us warm in the morning when we are up and still in our SUMMER jammies.

We even tried to use the pool today, but the kids lasted about 5 minutes and complained that the water was just too cold and wanted to go back to the trailer to warm up. I tell you I have NEVER been camping in July with it so cold. It is nice not to have to sweat when I am cooking dinner over the fire and it is nice to have all the windows open and the smells of burning wood and burning food (not mine, my Dad taught me better :-) coming in the windows. But come on...I would like to enjoy swimming and playing in the pool. Today when I put my toes in the pool, it gave me goose bumps!!

Hopefully it will warm up a little this week. Although I wouldn't know since I only get the PBS channel out here right now. I am truly roughing it...no TV to watch, no internet to browse on (except this really special treat that someone close by has it on right now), and the radio station that I love isn't coming in very well, so I can't even listen to my good music!! Oh well, I don't want to sound like I am complaining, it has been really nice. I have had so much time to read and not get pulled away by the TV and computer.

I will be going back to town tomorrow for a funeral... hopefully I will be able to post tomorrow night again.\

Blessings!!

Jilli's Birthday Date with Nana and Poppop

My parents take the birthday boy/girl out for lunch on their birthday. Since we were gone they were not able to do that with Jilli. So they took her out for a birthday dinner.

When the boys went out for lunch they were just excited to go. They didn't care what they looked like, what shoes they were wearing or if their clothes even matched. Jilli was a whole different story.
We took time picking out her outfit, she had to wear her new shirt from Rainforest Cafe, then we had to pick out some pants to match. And don't forget a purse to put her "lipstick" in. Her lipstick was a little can of root beer chap stick, thanks to Aunt Melissa)
Then we spent a few minutes doing her hair up all pretty...because girls like their hair done when they are doing something special (side note... thinking of cutting her hair off into a cute bob cut, in hopes to thicken it up a little and because she really doesn't like "pretties" in her hair...what do you think?)Oh, and don't forget the shoes...they were easy to pick out. High heels like Momma wears when she goes out. After all of that you have a little girl ready for a date with her Nana and Poppop! Ok, here is my favorite shot of the ones I took the other night. Jilli was opening her purse to get out her lipstick to reapply. Precious...

Sand Buddies

A few weeks ago I captured these pictures while the kids were playing in the sand box. This was a pretty clean sand day...if sand is ever clean. They didn't get out the water hose to make rivers or mud pies. They just enjoyed playing in the dry sand.

Micah and Jillian working on filling up the bucket with sand. Who knows what they are pretending it to be. Rarely never do they make sand castles when they fill a bucket with sand.

Tyler is filling up his nerf sword with sand and then dumping it all out...he thought it was so funny.Today was a "messy" sand day. They took the hose out and made a muddy mess with their friends. Then they were taking wet piles of muck and smacking it on each other. All the kids had their shirts off...except Jillian and oh was she mad that I wouldn't let her take it off. By the time they were done they had sand EVERYWHERE! Kevin had to hose our kids down outside before they were even allowed inside for a bath. It was a crazy mess! Every now and then I let them get crazy in the sand box, but not too often because then I would end up going crazy :-) And no, I do not have pictures of today. I would have been crazy to step outside with my camera with all that wet sand slinging around. (Did I use the word crazy enough in the last few sentences?? :-)

Parade

My sister came to our house early in the morning, on the 4th, because not only do I run in the race before the parade, Kevin drives his car in the parade. So she watches the kids and gets them to the parade in time.

This year Micah decided to ride with Kev, but the other two wanted to watch the parade instead.

Here is Jilli and Tyty waiting for me to run past them (at neck breaking speeds...haha)

Here is the car driving with all the other mustangs....pretty little thing, isn't she?

Micah was waving at us...Here they are driving past us...Micah thought it was pretty cool.

Last but not least, our whole crew who watched the parade together. It was a lot of fun....can't wait until next year!

Race Day...4th of July

The race last Saturday was fun. I am very happy with my time. My goal was to be under a 10 minute mile pace. I finished with a 9:53 min/mile pace(time of 30:39). WooHoo!! I was proud of myself.

I am also proud of my brother Tim, sister-in-law Melissa, and her family. Tim's time was 25:53, Melissa's time was 31:35. For it being her first race and only the second time she ever ran 3.2 miles she did a fantastic job! Now on to "Grandma Molly".
Grandma Molly is from Peru and to be kind I am not going to give her age, but lets just say she was in the 59-65 yr old division and she came in first place (of her division) at 30:26. And for those of you that are a little slow.....yes, she beat me....she said that the people clapping and telling her she was doing a good job, SLOWED HER DOWN. But because I think she is very sweet (even though we don't speak the same language), and I think she is especially cute, I am not going to hold against her that I am about half her age and she beat me. Big of me isn't it :-)
We are all excited for next year, Melissa said she has recruited even more runners for next year.

Blessings!!

Quick Fix...More is on the Way!!

I was kindly reminded that I haven't updated my blog in the last week...cough, cough, Bethany... I apologize, it has been kind of crazy around here and we left for a few days to spend in Chicago. So... I will have to have a blogging spree in the next few days to catch you up on what has been happening around here. I will be busy today shooting a wedding, so I might not get to post until tomorrow (sorry Bethany), but rest assured I have LOTS to post about, so stay tuned!!

And because I hate to post without a picture I will share the photo taken of the group of us that ran the 5k on the 4th of July. Notice "Grandma Molly" is holding a trophy....

Blessings!!

Clean Table

Things are coming along in our house. Kevin has had a couple of days to work on the house. I have been taking pictures, I just need to upload to my computer. I just thought that I would share with you what my house looked like while the drywall was being done.......THE WORST STAGE EVER!! Plastic was on everything and of course I still had a huge mess to clean up once it was all done.

"Mom how do I sit on the couch and watch TV??" "YOU DON'T!" It was a headache for the whole family to move around the house with plastic on everything. So glad that stage is done and we are moving on to more exciting changes. I cleaned off the table for the first time in about 2 weeks. Let me tell you how good that felt. I can now feed my family a meal without trying to strategically position all the tupperware, pans, and misc things I had to keep on the table, around our plates and serving dishes. Just in time for the holiday weekend...Yay!

Speaking of this weekend. I hope to post a few pics of that as well. I will again be running in Kentwood's 5K race. Tim will also be running it with me again, but we are also adding his wife Melissa, her step-sister, cousin and Aunt from Peru (I think I got everyone:-) My friend Jodi, was supposed to run it with me, but her foot Doc told her she couldn't, which stinks for me. We have a good balance together, I keep her from running too fast and she keeps me from running too slow. So I guess we will see how well I do on my own. I have a goal that I will share after the race....don't want anyone to know my strategy....Just Kidding, I am too chicken to say what I want to run it in, just in case I don't :-(

I hope all of you have a great holiday weekend!

Blessings!!
