What is community of believers? What does it mean to be in community? What does that look like?
We break bread with this group of believers at least twice a month, we have shared some hard times together. We have prayed through some tough situations. Our hearts have been slowly, steadily, entwining for the last few years. But in my book, if we haven't had Ice Cream together... well... we can't be that close of friends. Sorry that is just the way it is.
My family has built memories around the cold sweet stuff. We give directions based on ice cream shops. We recount trips by what ice cream we ate where. There are words in our vocabulary like "The Big Jim Dandy" and I can tell you who ate it and where. Some of my favorite memories of my Dad and Uncle are of the ice cream competitions and who could eat more. The worst punishments were also handed out at ice cream parlors, just ask my big brother Paul (I of course never got in trouble..... yeah right). As children we were not allowed to chew gum. I am not sure why, but we weren't, except when we ordered bubble gum ice cream. So guess what I ordered EVERY TIME. I would pick out all the gum, rap it up in a napkin and take it home to consume later. Gross huh, I still remember trying to pull those little squares off the napkin and getting pieces of napkin with them. I still chewed it.
Now that you have a taste of how important ice cream is to me, you can now understand partaking in this most important pastime was of the utmost importance to me. And since this camping trip was all about drawing closer together, sharing, and building relationships, there was no better place for me to do that then at the Whippy Dip.

This next picture is so cute. It really sums up the definition of BOY. They will do what they want/need to do where they want to do it, without caring what people think or see. Boys leave parents scrambling to try and correct the situation before other people/parents start to think they are not training their children well.

To me this next image is the picture of motherhood. Cleaning one child's hands while the other one is hanging on your back meanwhile you are carrying on a perfect conversation without loosing a beat. Multitasking, what motherhood is defined as.

These images are just moments in time captured in between the licks of an ice cream cone, but they are reminders of the memories we are creating with our children and each other. They bring a smile to my face and an urge to go have some ice cream....
Blessings!!
