The Sunset

Our last night at Hoffmaster we made a point to make it to the lakeshore for the evening show of sunlight reflecting off the dancing water.

So often I think we take for granted the beauty of the Eastern side of Lake Michigan. We have beautiful sunsets, warm waters in the summer, smooth, soft beautiful sand, rolling waves... It's God's beautiful playground made for us to enjoy.

On this special night we all gathered up on a dune. The kids played as we waited for the moment when the sun sizzles on the water. When that moment happened, there was awe, silence, smiles by all who was witnessing the beauty that was playing out before our eyes. What a treasure God gave us in the sunset. Each sunset is unique and beautiful. What a blessing it is for those of us that get to witness such beauty.

But as I gazed at the sunset I turned and looked at each person that was watching the show. Like the sunset each person is beautiful and unique, made in God's image. Each person special and made for a unique purpose. (even these two crazy guys!)

It was a special night... to watch the sunset, walk back to the camp in the dark, put the kids to bed and then head out to the campfire for a very interesting evening. My small group family learned some deep dark secrets of mine.... this white girl can rap. Enough said.
